About Counselling

  • Do past family experiences – such as emotional or physical abuse – still weigh on you with fear and shame, even years later?
  • Does a deep fear of “not being good enough” drive you to strive for perfection?
  • Do you find it hard to speak your feelings, hold healthy boundaries, or feel truly safe and valued in close relationships?
  • Have coping strategies like gambling or substances become a way to manage the pain?

These patterns often trace back to childhood wounds that shape how we relate to ourselves and others. Many people carry them forward into anxiety, depression, disconnection, or addictive behaviours.

Through Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and other relational approaches, we can trace these patterns to their roots, help you process the emotions underneath, and create new ways of being – more compassionate with yourself and more connected in your relationships.

I primarily use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based, experiential approach that helps individuals and couples understand and transform their emotional and relational patterns. By slowing down and staying with your core emotions in a safe space, we can gradually shift avoidant or anxious ways of relating into more secure, compassionate connections with yourself and those you care about.

Therapy can feel daunting – especially if you’re concerned about time, opening up, or past experiences. Whether you want quick, practical steps forward or deeper emotional work, I’m flexible. With Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), we can identify what works and build momentum rapidly for immediate challenges. Clients often report feeling lighter, more able to set boundaries, and hopeful about their relationships within just a few sessions. For longer-term patterns, EFT helps you process roots and create lasting change. My approach adapts to your pace and goals – creating a steady, non-judgmental space where we collaborate on what feels realistic and meaningful for your life.

About Cindy
I specialise in parent-child education, personal growth and emotional healing, supporting individuals, families and teams in Hong Kong. Born and raised in Hong Kong with Filipino-Chinese heritage, I bring a bilingual and culturally sensitive perspective to my work. I understand the tensions that can arise in diverse family structures, traditional expectations, and modern urban life.

Before focusing on psychotherapy, I spent over a decade in education and training. In 2014, I founded an adventure-based training company delivering workshops on brain development, emotion management, confidence building and non-violent communication for students, parents and corporate teams in Hong Kong and the region. I have also written a parenting education book and contributed to media on education and mental health. These experiences have deepened my appreciation of how early experiences, family systems and social environments shape our emotional worlds.

I have also volunteered 200+ hours supporting DSE students, drug‑rehabilitated youth and social workers with burnout prevention – deepening my trauma‑informed approach. In my clinical practice, I emphasise Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and draw on psychodynamic and person-centred approaches. Clients often experience me as warm, steady and gently challenging – someone who helps them contact emotions they usually push away, while feeling understood rather than judged. I believe that lasting change comes from healing underlying emotional wounds, not just applying cognitive “tools”.
